DAY 1 – STONE TOWN TOUR & PRISON ISLAND
Stone Town Tour
The stone town tour, the city tour, takes you around the capital town to experience historically, culturally and architecturally richness of Zanzibar Islands. The tour takes 2 to 3 hours depend on the places to be visited. Most of the important buildings and places (historical monuments) are within the town’s municipal environs such as Anglican Cathedral built on the former slave market, the house of the famous slave trader (Tip Tip house), Hamamni Bath, Darajani market (fish and fruits market), the Old Portuguese Fort, the house of wonders (Zanzibar National Museum of History & Culture) and the home of world famous musician, Freddy Mercury. The guide will also show you the beautiful pattern of Zanzibar door and on the way; you will have a chance to walk around the narrow streets of Stone Town where most of the houses date back more than 150 years. We offer this tour for half day then we take you to the prison island.
A prison built in 1892. It was never actually used as a prison and currently an attraction for tourists as it is known as a famous place for the giant tortoise. After a 30min boat ride with a beautiful view of Stone Town one also gets to see the other three island thus grave island, Snake Island and Bawe island, guests will meet the contemporary inhabitants of the island and the giant tortoises which were banned from the city of Stone Town which are more than 200 years.
Island was used as a penitentiary for rebel slaves by the sultans from the 1860s until the end of the slave trade. After which the British began building a prison on the island under the guidance of First Governor, Lloyd Matthews. This was completed in 1894. However, the ‘prison’ was only ever used as a quarantine Centre for possible yellow-fever victims.
There you will be able to see the giant tortoises that were imported from Seychelles in the 19th Century. Also beautiful marine creatures, coral reef and it is also a best site for doing Snorkelling. Once on the island, you have the opportunity to feed and pet the tortoises, some of which are over a hundred years old. If you have time you may also like to take a stroll through the forested interior where you will see a wide variety of birds, colourful peacocks, bats and beautiful butterflies. Keep your eyes peeled too for the shy and elusive Duikers – an unusual tiny antelope species.
DAY 2 – DOLPHIN TOUR & JOZANI FOREST
Morning after breakfast at 0700hrs, will depart from your hotel for Dolphin tour, we take you to the fishing village of Kizimkazi. An amazing boat ride will take you to the home of the dolphins. Also swim next to them and enjoy once in a life time. Check out the hotel to airport/port.
At 10:00am will take you to JOZANI Forest, join amazing tour to the hectare Jozani forest nature reserve, some 35km to the south of Zanzibar town. See the largest population of the Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey, one of the rarest species in the world. So make your cameras ready, watch endemic birds and butterflies, and plant your own mangrove tree.
After tour will take the guest direct to the airport. Depart from hotel to Zanzibar Airport.
DAY 3 – SPICE TOUR & SUNSET DINNER CRUISE
SPICE TOUR – Spices from Zanzibar are famous around the world and holiday to Zanzibar would be incomplete without a visit to the spice plantations. Tour guides will take you on a walking tour of the spice farms at Kizimbani or Kidichi; picking bunches of leaves, fruits and twigs from bushed and inviting you to smell or taste them to guess what they are.
Visit the Kizimbani Village – The tour starts from 8:30am and it takes 2 to 3 hours depending on the activities to be done. You will be overwhelmed by the abundance of botanical species growing in these gardens – exotic species, fruits and vegetables. Many of the species have medicinal properties and are still used by the local population to cure certain maladies. Taste a variety of fruits ranging from rose apple to the guava. Some rare plants like henna, perfume tree and lipstick tree are used for their value in preparing cosmetics. Pretty much all the ingredients of the average kitchen spice rack are represented – Cinnamon, cardamom, coriander, turmeric, garlic, ginger, chillies, black pepper, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, lemon grass, to mention just a few.
Sunset Dinner Cruise.
The trip starts from 5.00pm to midnight Trip to see sunset View of Indian Ocean, fisherman, and Green of Zanzibar paradise with our professional local boat man. On the coast before you take the boat touch and play with the white sand where everyone get to witness moment of nostalgic, fishermen returning from fishing, voices of children playing, birds sounds and movement on their way back to their nests.
After taking the boat to the sandbank on the way it’s a moment when everyone tries to catch the view on camera. Arriving at the sandbank on the top of Sunset in Zanzibar, enjoy your time walking along on the white Indian beach, enjoying fresh prepared BBQ seafood dinner on the sandbank, a moment to relax, explore and making that unforgettable memory of that adorable island “Zanzibar” the paradise itself. We take you back to hotel and prepare for the next day.
DAY 4 – MARINE TURTLES CONSERVATION POND & CULTURE
It is a small natural pond which serves as a sanctuary for the turtles. The conservancy receives turtles which have been accidentally caught in fishing nets. The pond is actually a large, natural tidal pool in the coral rock behind the beach and here you will be able to see, feed and swim with these beautiful animals. It takes almost 40 minutes to enjoy this.
On this day you will visit the villagers and learn their lifestyles and their culture. You will see the traditional dances by the village men and you will also have chances to dance together with the native people in the village.
You will also get to visit the Local Fish market and see how different fish are prepared in initial stages by the Local Fisherman. Some fresh fishes will be taken and go for cooking class where fresh food will be prepared for lunch.
DAY 5 – DEPARTURE
