Mikumi is the fourth largest national park in Tanzania and only few hours’ drive from Tanzania’s largest City Dar es Salaam. The park has a wide variety of wildlife that can be easy spotted and also well acclimatized to game viewing.
Visitors come to Mikumi National Park aiming to spot the ‘Big Five’ (Cheetah, Lion, Elephant, buffalo, and rhino) are always not disappointed. Hippo pools provide close access to the mud- loving beasts, and bird-watching along the waterways is particularly rewarding. Mikumi National Park boarders the Selous Game Reserve and Udzungwa National Park, and the three locations make a varied and pleasant safari circuit.

Day 1: TRANSIT
The journey starts from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam by Boat, then heading to Bagamoyo by Road. On the way to Mikumi national park (Morogoro, 6/7 hours) you will pass by Bagamoyo enjoying seeing the culture of the people of the coast and the day to day life. Have lunch along the way to Morogoro. You will arrive at the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight a Mikumi National Park.
Day 2: MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy an early morning breakfast at 0800hrs leave the lodge for early morning game drive in the park with packed lunch. Mikumi’s vegetation includes woodland, swamp and grassland with two water holes, Mkata and Chamgore. Apart from the saddle-bill stork, hammer kop and malachite kingfisher, you will also find monitor lizard and a deadly python inhabiting the pools.
After lunch proceed with afternoon game drives in the park a home to Elephant, Lion, Wild dog, Zebras, Hyena, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Eland, Hartebeest, Crocodile, Lizard and other residents. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.
In the evening return to the Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: HIKING UDZUNGWA MOUNTAIN
Wake up early and have breakfast at 7am, after breakfast take hiking gears and drive to Udzungwa Mountain National Park. Put hiking gears then begin hiking at around 8am; hiking will take 4-5 hours depending on speed. Along the trails there will be several stopovers depending on the requirements, enjoy the evergreen lush environment of the forest; learn about different tree species and their uses. Spot beautiful birds and animal species only found in Udzungwa Mountain National Park.
You will reach the peak of Sanje Waterfalls at noon. This is a very beautiful view point atop the mountain look at the valleys below. You will enjoy the one of the biggest falls in Africa and beautiful scenery. You will take lunch there.
After lunch start descending down the mountain slowly, you will enjoy floras and faunas. When you reach base point that is the end of hiking, your driver guide will drive you to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: BAGAMOYO TRIP
Wake up early and have breakfast at 0600hrs. Check out and drive to Bagamoyo town(6/7 hours’ drive) Enjoy partial historical town of Bagamoyo. Have lunch in Bagamoyo, after lunch drive back to Dar es Salaam where you will check in your hotel to prepare for departure on the next day. Or board on the boat back to Zanzibar where you will check in your hotel and prepare for departure on the following date.
Day 5: TRANSIT
Departure either from Dar es Salaam/ Zanzibar to home country.
