BAGAMOYO HISTORY
The name Bagamoyo is delivered from the word Bwagamoyo which means ‘Here I throw down my heart ‘, reflecting the desperation and despair of the ‘broken heart’ captive whose voyage into the unknown begun here. It was the former capital of German East Africa and another eight UNESCO world heritage sites. While in Bagamoyo you will have a chance to visit old prison where slaves were herded through underground tunnels to waiting dhow, the Mission museum with a wonderful collection of photographs, the wonders of msalabani where there is undried water, old German tombs at Mwanamakuka beach, the school of Art while here you will enjoy live show drama and a hundred of precious beaches.
KAOLE RUINS
Kaole village formally known as PUMBUJI is one of the oldest villages that immigrants from Arabic countries choose as the landed on the east Africa’s coast. The villages have ruins dating back to 13th Century. It is I this village where Sultan of Oman preferred to settle and construct administrative and headquarters. The ruins are surround b the mangrove forest.
Kaole museum tells volumes of stories about ivory trade, movement of traders, cruel slavery and the living culture of today’s Kaole people majority originating from Asia.
BAGAMOYO STONE TOWN
Bagamoyo is surrounded by old buildings of the previous generation, beautiful Arab architecture with thick walls of earth fitted with well-carved doors made of thick African hardwood.
You will get to know how local people builds boats.

Tour Plan
Day 1: To Saadani
Upon arrival in Saadani by boat/ flight. You will meet our driver guide who will guide you in Park registration and Procedure, then check in at Tanganyika Coastal Campsite. Thereafter go for boat safari and salt farm visit at the waters of Saadani. Return to the camp for late lunch at around 3:30pm. Thereafter go for sunset game drive until 06:30pm, return to the camp for dinner, bonfire and overnight.
Day 2: From Saadan
Early in the morning, go for early game drive in Mvave area at Saadani National Park. Return to Tanganyika Coastal Campsite for breakfast. Check out and go for boat cruise/ flight back to Zanzibar.
